Graduate Training Programme

Our Graduate Training Programme will provide you with a first-class platform to launch your surveying career. It has been designed to ensure that you are able to demonstrate the required level of knowledge, skills, and behaviours associated with becoming RICS qualified surveyor. For our Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying and cognate Commercial Property vacancies, we welcome applications from candidates who already have, or are predicted to obtain, a RICS accredited degree by September 2020. Please note that if you have the right to work in the UK, this is not a requirement for our non-cognate Commercial Property London vacancy. We welcome applications from any degree discipline who meet the entry requirements. ​

Our Pathways

Commercial Property

This structured two-year programme focuses on the completion of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

Graduate Surveyors will benefit from having an opportunity to build their experience across a wide range of services and specialisations that will help them gain a better understanding of the commercial real estate industry as a whole. The rotation scheme consists of one 12-month rotation and two 6-month rotations.

The structured training programme includes three development conferences, APC training days, internal mocks and an assigned APC Supervisor and Counsellor. As well as the structured training, Graduate Surveyors are entitled to take up to 5 days of study leave prior to their APC.

It is essential that an applicant already has or is working towards the completion of a RICS accredited degree or a RICS accredited masters conversion course.

Commercial Property Non-Cognate

This structured two-year programme focuses on the completion of the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) through the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). A non-cognate Graduate Surveyor will receive sponsorship to complete an MSc in Real Estate part time over the two-year programme and will be provided with additional study days.

Graduate Surveyors will benefit from having an opportunity to build their experience across a wide range of services and specialisations that will help them gain a better understanding of the commercial real estate industry as a whole. The rotation scheme consists of one 12-month rotation and two 6-month rotations.

The structured training programme includes three development conferences, APC training days, internal mocks and an assigned APC Supervisor and Counsellor.

Building Surveying

A successful applicant will provide Building Surveying and Contract Administration Services to both Landlord and Occupier clients in the office, industrial, retail, licensed & leisure and private healthcare sectors.

A Building Surveying Graduate will work towards taking ownership of client instructions, engaging directly with the client and being responsible for financial control of the instruction, including the raising of fee accounts and working towards meeting an individual annual fee target.

This hands-on experience coupled with the training and development support of the Graduate Scheme, will ensure that graduates are able to demonstrate the required level of knowledge, skills, and behaviours associated with becoming a RICS qualified Surveyor.

It is essential that an applicant already has or is working towards the completion of a Building Surveying degree or RICS accredited Masters conversion course in Building Surveying.

quantity Surveying ​

A successful applicant will provide Quantity Surveying Services to both Landlord and Occupier clients in the office, industrial, residential, retail, licensed & leisure, and private healthcare sectors.

A Graduate will work towards taking ownership of client instructions, including engaging directly with the client and being responsible for providing robust advice on building costs and building design economics. A Graduate will also be responsible for the drafting of contract and legal documents related to construction activities, financial controls for the project, and will work alongside other professionals including Architects, Designers, Engineers and Project Managers.

The Quantity Surveying Graduate will contribute towards business fee targets, including their own fee targets.

This hands-on experience coupled with the training and development support of the Graduate Scheme, will ensure that graduates are able to demonstrate the required level of knowledge, skills, and behaviours associated with becoming a RICS qualified Surveyor.

It is essential that an applicant already has or is working towards the completion of a Quantity Surveying degree or RICS accredited Masters conversion course in Quantity Surveying.

Eligibility ​ ​ ​

In order for your application to be considered, it is essential that you already have, or are predicted to obtain any of the following requirements by September 2020:

• 2:1 or above in your undergraduate degree

​ • 2:1 or above (or Merit or above) in your Post Grad/Masters

• 2:2 undergraduate degree and at least 120 UCAS points

​ • Merit or above in your 4-year integrated Masters course

The Application Process

Online Application

You will be required to complete an application form to give us more information on yourself, and to understand your motivation for the industry and joining Colliers International. ​

Telephone Interview

This is to find out more about you and your passion for the industry. The call will last around 20 minutes.

First Round Interview

You will be asked a number of behavioural, commercial awareness and property specific questions. Interviews will take place at the location you have applied to and will last around 45 minutes.

Assessment Centre

This is the final stage in the recruitment process and will take place at our London office in January 2019. You will participate in a further interview and exercises which are designed to assess your suitability for the role you are applying to. We have vacancies across various locations and, as part of the application, we will give you the opportunity to select an alternative location preference if you are flexible on this.
